Why Should I use Metro Pets & More?

By using a professional pet sitter such as Metro Pets & More, your pet can remain in a setting that is familiar to them. Animals can become disoriented, and even depressed when they are placed in an unfamiliar environment such as a kennel. Taking a dog or cat to a kennel usually means a visit to your vet to get updated shots and proof of vaccinations, which in turn costs more money. Whether you choose to have your dog walked on a continuous basis or you’re going on vacation; a professional pet sitter can give you and your pet peace of mind when you have to be away from home.

What happens if my return home is delayed?

All of our clients are required to contact us upon their return home. If we do not receive a call from you, we will continue providing pet care services and continue to charge for our services; until we can confirm that you have returned and resumed the care of your pet. If possible, it does help for you to call us and let us know you are being delayed, however we do understand that this is not always possible. So, you can rest assured that your pet will continue to receive care even if you are unable to return as scheduled.

What happens if the weather is bad and the sitter is unable to safely get to my home?

When filling out your paperwork, you will be asked to supply the name and number of a neighbor or nearby relative that has agreed to care for your pet in the event weather conditions make it unsafe for the sitter to travel to your home. Should weather conditions become this extreme, these people will be contacted and this plan would be followed.

What references can you provide?

We have over 8 years of references and would be happy to share some of them with you.  If you would like us to provide a list of references, just ask!  We want you to be completely comfortable with Metro Pets & More Pet Sitting Services before allowing us to serve your pet care needs.

Do you offer in-home consultations?

YES! This required appointment is meant to last for approximately 30 minutes and is free of charge. During the consultation we will go over the basic care of your pets and their needs. Their likes, dislikes, and getting to know one another. It is required that all animals that will be cared for by Metro Pets & More, be present during the initial consultation. This is so we can make sure that everyone is a good fit and provide the best possible care to your pets. We ask that you give us 24-48 hours notice to set up a time for a consultation, but please don’t hesitate to call on a last minute basis.

Do I need to give a key to Metro Pets & More?

Yes. Please provide (2) working keys at the time of your consultation, so that we may enter your home for future services. One is for our office, the other for your pet sitter/dog walker. This is so we may provide continuous service and be available in case you have an unexpected need for our services.

Can I make last minute arrangements?

Absolutely! Our overnight pet sitting fills quickly (especially during the holidays) so please try and provide us as much notice as possible and we will do our best to fulfill your request.

Everything sounds great, how do I get started?

There are a few different ways you can start the process of service with Metro Pets & More. By email, phone (612-205-8974), or click on our contact page to fill out our service form. Be sure to include the area you live in, the type of service you are looking for ( i.e. dog walking, pet sitting), and dates of service when either calling, emailing or filling out the form.

Can you give my pet their medications?

Yes. Oral medications or vitamins only.

Will I have the same pet sitter everytime?

If the same pet sitter is available for the dates you are requesting, we would be happy to place that sitter with your pet, however we do have other animal lovers ready to care for your pets too!

Will I have the same dog walker everytime?

There will be days where different walkers walk your dog. There will also be times when our walkers go on vacation or get sick, so in this instance the above would apply. Metro Pets & More would be happy to introduce the different walkers to you if you’d like.

How do I prepare my home and pets for a pet sitting service?

Preparation can make a big difference in how smoothly things go for your pet when the pet sitter comes to visit. Here are some tips:

  • If you have new keys made, try them out to make sure they work.
  • Clean food and water dishes before leaving town.
  • Provide extra food, litter and other supplies just in case you’re not able to return when planned. ( supplies will be picked up at a flat rate of $25.00 plus cost of supplies, if there is not enough provided and we happen to run out while your away)
  • Clean out the refrigerator to avoid smelly food spoilage and wash the dishes in the sink to prevent ants, flies or other pests.
  • Adjust the thermostat to keep the house comfortable for the pet during your absence. In warm weather, a closed-up house can get dangerously hot in a short time.
  • Tell the pet sitter of any household areas that are off-limits to your pets or to the pet sitter. Secure access to those areas before leaving home.
